“Snow Ghosts”

This awesome effect that you see of snow clung to trees, isn’t just snow clinging to the tree… it’s called rime ice! Some folks call trees like this “snow monsters” or as I like to call them “SNOW GHOSTS”! This essentially happens when water in heavy cloud cover or fog is attracted to still objects like trees, ski lifts, or signs, and it freezes to them—often freezing directionally with the wind which is truly awesome to see up close. So I implore you to go take a closer look when you see what looks like snow or frost on your surroundings when you get of the lift at the top of your local resort.
