“Moose I”

Wilsall, MT - 2020

Here is one of the two young bulls I came across sparring in October while two cows and calves stood nearby, grazing. This is quite rare to see so I am very pleased to share this with others in this large format.

Moose—specifically Shiras moose—in Montana are unfortunately smaller than many other places of the world. This shouldn’t detract from their grandeur or the appreciation of the growing number of moose I see in my area. The ongoing theory is that this is function of habitat (lesser quality foraging option) and that they are also less productive than other areas of the world.
